Current remake context
The store premise references Claire’s search for Chris. PlayStation Blog also reports the producer naming him among the story’s important figures. Those references do not specify a campaign split or the amount of player control.

Who is Chris before Veronica?
Capcom’s digital archive describes Chris as a surviving S.T.A.R.S. member from the Mansion Incident, a skilled marksman and a former air-force pilot. It links his affection for Claire to an attempt to free her from imprisonment on the island.
The same archive discusses much later games. Those later portrayals are retrospective context, not a description of Chris’s equipment, appearance or abilities at every point in the chronology.
Where does Wesker fit?
Capcom’s series timeline places the original Code: Veronica in December 1998 and includes a confrontation between Chris and Wesker as the story reaches Antarctica.

What a playable-role confirmation would need
A character being named is not the same as an announced playable segment. Useful evidence would explicitly identify who the player controls and what the demonstration represents. Campaign length, character-switching rules and inventory transfer would each need further detail.
For a spoiler-light route through the site, read Claire first and Wesker next. Leave the Bosses dossiers closed until you are ready for original-story revelations.
